MAIN CONFERENCE
Clinical and research in photostimulation

Clinically, the use of photostimulation in the optometric field has a long history spanning many years, where each professional can use different instruments and/or techniques for both diagnosis and treatment.

But its journey in the field of research is limited. This division makes us think that we need to reach a consensus on clinical and scientific evidence for this type of treatment with so much controversy, and to put on the table what factors need to be considered to follow this path.

To do this, we must consider what needs to be taken into account, both clinically and investigatively, to help us better understand this type of treatment. For example, clinically we can ask ourselves: Do we really know what we are measuring in the follow-up of the stimulation? Can we ensure that we are maintaining good control of the light flow at the visual level? What ocular factors influence its treatment? Or do I know well the type of light I am using?

But at the research level, questions also arise, for example, what wavelength do we use in a study? What variables should we consider that can be measured and quantified appropriately? Or what do the studies published to date contribute to us? We will address all these questions in this conference, which aims to reflect on the clinic and research in photostimulation.
