SIODEC has organised five congresses which have been held in different Spanish venues and cities: Montserrat, Palma de Majorca, Seville, Gijón and Toledo. The sixth edition shall be held between 27th and 30th March, 2019 in Granada.
This biennial meeting has already established itself as an Observatory on Behavioural Optometry in Spain and one that attracts increasing numbers of attendees and associates.
6th Congress: Granada, 2019 (March 27th to 30th March)
5th Congress: Toledo, 2017. 300 attendees
Held in the Hotel Beatriz of Toledo on 18th, 19th and 20th May, 2017, it attracted a record number of attendees, with over 300 vision professionals hailing from 13 different countries. Furthermore, it enjoyed the support of more than 35 corporate sponsors and featured an extensive trade exhibition consisting of 27 stands where innovations and product discounts related with Optometry were presented.
4th Congress: Gijón, 2015. 240 attendees
Held at the Gijón Convention Bureau in Asturias’ largest city on 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th May, 2015, this Congress marked the onset of SIODEC’S international expansion, a fact proved by the attendance of professionals from different parts of the world such as Central Europe, Oceania and the Americas. Furthermore, commercial brands and companies from within the sector played a significant role with the roll-out of a trade exhibition that was both well received and attended.
3rd Congress: Seville, 2012.200 attendees
Held at the Silken Al-Andalus Hotel in the Andalusian capital between May 17th and 20th, 2012, this event, with its high turnout, marked the definitive consolidation of SIODEC.
2nd Congress: Palma de Majorca, 2010. 150 attendees
Held in the Hotel Duva in Palma de Mallorca on May 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th, 2010, it was during this Congress that it first became clear that quality and excellence in training professionals was one of the key areas that needed to be addressed.
1st Congress: Montserrat, 2008. 70 attendees
Held in the Monastery of Montserrat on November 7th, 8th and 9th, 2008, this Congress was, in principle, organised as a specialist Symposium. The creation of SIODEC was announced during the Gala Dinner.
