COURSE DESCRIPTION: Vision is a crucial and often overlooked component in all sports. This course will provide the attendees with an overview of how vision affects sports performance, a logical and sequential behavioral optometric evaluation protocol, and demonstrations of key sports vision enhancement procedures. The course will also provide advice for how to analyze the optometric data and how to communicate the benefits of optometric care to the athlete, athletic trainers and coaches. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Attendees will learn: about the optimal Optometric vision evaluation/sports performance tests for athletes; how to relate/correlate the Optometric evaluation findings to on-field performance; how to most effectively communicate the testing results with athletes, coaches and trainers; Attendees will also be presented with a broad overview of how to organize a Sports Vision Enhancement program for the athlete and hands-on demonstrations of effective training procedures. SPEAKERS: Dr. Heddle, OD, is a 1998 graduate of Indiana University School of Optometry.
